Starting September 24, recycling crews will begin installing Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) bar code on residential recycling carts.
During this time residents need to identify their cart with their house or apartment number and leave it out until 5 pm on their recycling day. This process is expected to take several months to complete and crews will post a hang-tag on the cart once the bar code installation is done.
Beginning October 2, 2012, TFC Recycling crews will scan tagged carts and award points automatically to residents who register for Recycling Perks.
The new bar code technology also allows supervisors to monitor collection routes in real time and catch any missed customers; improving efficiencies and customer service.
