Event Recap Provided By Artemis Stoll
The Food Drive ran from December 1st through 20th, with four drop-off spots throughout CP and RV set up as collection sites. And the donations began pouring in. The bins were filled several times over!
While the intended focus for the donations was to aid individuals/families within our neighborhoods, no one within CPRV responded expressing a need.
As a result, the Social Events Committee reached out to the ODU Food Pantry, where, according to Jenn Grimm, Director for the Office of Leadership and Learning, who also oversees the pantry, “The need is always great.”
On December 21st, two representatives from the Social Committee, Patience McCartney and Artemis Stoll met with Ms. Grimm; her assistant, Erica Stratton King; and Zlatka and Javier, two international PhD students from Global Student Friendship to unload the donations, which filled the entire back half of a midsize SUV. The ODU reps expressed sincere gratitude to CPRV for the large quantity of food donated and asked that their appreciation be shared with our community at large. In addition, Jenn Grimm sent the following in an email later that afternoon:
Hello, everyone!
Thanks for a great connection yesterday and thank you again to the Colonial Place/Riverview Civic League for helping us #FeedODU!
