A Room Full of Neighbors, A City Full of Promise and Safety 101: Inside CPRV’s April Meeting

By Pooya Mohit, CPRV Civic League President

Monday, April 13, 2026   |   6:30–7:45 PM   |   Kingdom Embassy Ministries, Mayflower Road

Over three dozen neighbors gathered at Kingdom Embassy on April 13 for the Colonial Place and Riverview Civic League’s April General Membership Meeting. The evening focused on two key themes: the future growth of Norfolk and the continued safety of our neighborhoods.

Officer Collin Dunthorn, our Community Resource Officer, provided the latest update on neighborhood safety.

Bolstering Community Safety in Norfolk

Representatives from Norfolk Crime Line helped demystify the program:

  • Jo Hughes (NPD Master Police Officer & Crime Line Coordinator)
  • Kelly Johnson (President, Norfolk Crime Line)

At the start of the session, only a few attendees were familiar with how Crime Line works. By the end, residents had a clear understanding of:

  • How anonymous tips are submitted
  • The impact of community participation
  • Ways residents can actively contribute to neighborhood safety
