Thank you to everyone who joined us for our August Colonial Place & Riverview Civic League meeting! We covered a full slate of neighborhood updates, upcoming events, and community improvement projects.

Here are a few highlights:

  • Dockside Social While they were not in attendance, Dockside representatives, via email, shared tentative plans to begin offering morning coffee and breakfast around Labor Day. Alcohol service and entertainment will remain on hold until after their September 24 Planning Commission meeting.
  • Mayflower Buffer Path improvements continue, with the City recently completing curb cleaning. CPRV’s Environmental & Community Improvement Committee is also working on removing temporary fencing, improving access points, landscaping, and addressing storm-related damage and lighting concerns.
  • CPRV finances remain strong, with total monetary assets reaching $16,439.02. Members also voted to approve the proposed annual budget as published in the newsletter.
  • Our Back-to-School Supply Drive continues through Friday, with collected supplies benefiting local students.
  • The Environmental & Community Improvement Committee is hosting a neighborhood litter cleanup Sunday from 1:00–2:00 PM near Mayflower and Georgia Avenue and is beginning plans for a future Repair Café in partnership with local reuse and makerspace resources.
  • Wes Stewart is stepping into our membership efforts. Neighbors who would like to welcome a new resident or learn more about getting involved can email membership@cprv.net.
  • Members also heard updates on new neighborhood businesses, including Sankofa Boutique in the former 7-Eleven/Country Boys space and Inspire on Granby Street.
  • A Red Cross Blood Drive is coming up Wednesday for neighbors interested in donating.

Looking ahead, our September meeting will feature invited School Board candidates, continued discussion surrounding school consolidation, and additional community updates, including the latest from Dockside Social.

Thank you to our officers, committee chairs, volunteers, and neighbors who continue giving their time and energy to make Colonial Place and Riverview stronger, cleaner, more connected, and an even better place to call home.

Due to technical issues, the video cuts out very early; however, the full audio recap is available below the approved budget section.
