Colonial Place/River View Civic League Meeting   12SEP22     6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

President opened the meeting.

Community Resource Officer, Officer Charles Greer:  Aug 9 – 12 – 9 larcenies from autos which most were unlocked cars, a gun in the car, and one (1) catalytic converter; 1 door kicked in (house).

Question:  How did catalytic converter theft happen?  No notice of how the catalytic converter was taken (where/when/etc.).  City is planning a visit to an auto shop where VIN will be etched and/or painted on the converter.

Question:  What can you tell us about 7-11 at 38th Street and the murder/gun shot?

Speakers in care of odor & dead/ill wildlife:  City of Norfolk, Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Norfolk Department of Health (Paul), Virginia Department of Health (VDH), and Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR).   Group was nNotified of odor and wildlife issues – on 1st SEP, found discharge of sewage from Max’s Barge and Max’s was issued a “notice of violation”.  Max’s had a plumber out and responded within two (2) hours; problem resolved.  Barge/crane is related to construction, not this incident.  DWR does not believe that the recent deaths are associated with sewage spill and may be related to Avian Influenza and Contaminants in Waterfowl as there are birds in other areas locally being affected.   DWR website:  can report any waterfowl deaths.  Public Utilities and Storm Water — if you see sewage leak POC:  757-823-1000/4000 or Norfolk Cares.  DWR:   https://dwr.virginia.gov/wildlife.   Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)https://portal.deq.virginia.gov/v2/prep/search and 757-518-2000.
