Attending members unanimously approved the slate, returning the incumbent officers for another term. Congratulations to each officer, and thank you for your continued service to Colonial Place and Riverview.
Residents also asked about activity at the former Mack’s Barge location and the new temporary Dockside Social signs. At this time, potential operators have reportedly met with Susan Pollock from Planning for an initial conversation. It is understood that the business would operate under the same conditions as Mack’s, including the same operational hours and allowable uses. No additional details have been shared, and no formal applications have been filed at this time.
Another topic of discussion was Lafayette Park, which is now closing at 7 p.m. due to rising concerns from residents and city officials. The matter was expected to come up during the June 9 City Council meeting under New Business. Attending residents shared opinions on both sides of the updated park hours.
We also took a moment to recognize the revived Colonial Place Greenway wood signage. Thank you to the City of Norfolk for helping restore this neighborhood feature.
The Mayflower Buffer Path is looking beautiful, and the work is not finished yet. CPRV has started conversations around next steps, including removal of temporary fencing, weeding, and exploring additional egress and access points, ideally one per block.
Our Social Events Committee gave a recap of an a’MAY’zing past month, and we also took a moment to celebrate Social Events Committee Chair Artemis Stoll. Artemis has helped bring fun, thoughtful, and engaging events to CPRV, giving neighbors more opportunities to connect, interact, and grow as a community. As she takes a step back from leading the committee, please join us in thanking her for bringing her vision to life in our neighborhoods and for sharing her time, energy, and talents with us. Be sure to say hello and thank you the next time you see her around the neighborhood.
During resident comments, attendees also raised questions and concerns about the Lafayette Park hours adjustment, as well as interest in inviting the School Superintendent to join an upcoming CPRV meeting.
