
President’s Corner: April 2023
In an effort to show our community what the Civic League does, here is what the Board has been up to the past few months on behalf of our residents:
Colonial Place River View (CPRV) Civic League Meeting 10 OCT 22 6:30-7:15 p.m.
President started the meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Guest Speakers – President introduced two guest speakers –
City of Norfolk, Tiba Salim, updates on water pipe construction.
Elizabeth River Project, Joe Reiger, updates on Knitting Mill Creek’s water quality and improvement initiatives – check out opportunities, what’s happening, etc. at elizabethriver.org.
Crime Prevention update (Stephanie) – (13SEP-10OCT22) – only 1 incident reported to Norfolk PD that occurred during the power outage. Reminder: If you are a victim of a crime, please report directly to the Norfolk PD. POC info in the newsletter and today in chat.
Treasurer (David) – no revenue, minimal expenses (Garden Party), and total assets $16,028.06.
Secretary (Beth) – request approval of last month’s minutes. Motion/2nd/approved.
VP/Community Improvement & Beautification (Pooya) –
(1) Thanks to Tiba for always being on our calls and answering questions in a timely manner.
(2) Excited for projects with Elizabeth River Project. If want to get involved, email community@cprv.net.

Wave – several issues with business and have tried to address; now on city’s radar, and like Crime Prevention, be sure to report if any incidents.
Riverview Business Association mtg – Riverview is being considered for Corridor/Pilot program.
Traffic Counters – there have been several traffic counters put in around the neighborhood. 1st step.
CPRV Tailgate Party – 22OCT22 1200-2 pm – ODU homecoming game (ODU vs Georgia Southern – President’s house (751 Carolina Avenue/JMU flag). RSVP at events@cprv.net.
Website – SUPER EXCITED about our NEW website. Shannon has done an EXCELLENT job; check it out at cprv.net. If interested in contributing, contact media@cprv.net.
Newsletter – looking to move to digital/going live in January 2023. Sign up sheet in back of meeting, Zoom chat, or on cprv.net website. We will continue to have a few limited copies of paper copies. Will NOT sell your info or use in any other way.

Bringing free pet food and resources directly to the community
Plants, plants, and more plants. Trees, annuals, natives. Green Elephant goodies and a book nook. Bake sale and raffle. Hope you can join us!
